Endowment
The South Dakota Trail of Governors has established an endowment fund to provide for ongoing expenses associated with the trail such as statue and plaque cleaning and maintenance, and publications and promotional tools for visitors. Those wishing to contribute funds, property or memorials to the endowment fund may do so in honor of – or in memory of – friends and family members, and that will be noted on the web site. The interest earned from this fund will be used for these ongoing expenses of the nonprofit Trail of Governors foundation. The principal of this fund will remain intact in perpetuity or as long as the Trail of Governors foundation is in existence, and oversight for these funds will remain with the South Dakota Community Foundation along with the balance of the Trail’s funds. Those wishing to contribute to the Trail of Governors Endowment Fund simply can note this purpose when they submit their contribution to the Trail or to the South Dakota Community Foundation on behalf of the Trail, along with the proper acknowledgement to accompany the contribution.
