The Trail of Governors lures

more visitors as they soak up

the history, savor the art.

Visitors from throughout South Dakota and the country enjoyed walking and running along the
Trail of Governors during 2024. It was a challenge keeping brochures of the trail map stocked at

locations in the Pierre area, including at the Capitol building where visitors often begin touring.
Many could be seen following the trail, clicking on the QR codes to read or hear a governor's
biography and taking selfies with one of the 31 bronze governors.

It was the second year of having all former

South Dakota governors featured on the

trail, winding its way from the shores of

Lake Sharpe, through the capital city, and

around the Capitol grounds.
